Bengalla CHPP Expansion
A Thiess Sedgman Joint Venture (TSJV) completed an $86 million contract to upgrade the Bengalla Mining Company’s Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) located approximately four kilometres west of Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley.
The contract to design, procure, construct and commission an upgrade of the CHPP increased the plant’s raw coal handling capacity from 7.8 million tonnes per annum to 10.7 million tonnes per annum.
Thiess has an unparalleled 20-year history in building CHPPs. Sedgman also has a long association with the Bengalla Mining Company, designing and building the original CHPP in March 1999, and undertaking an upgrade to the plant’s feed systems in December 2008.
