Participants enter the program by working at one of our engineering and construction businesses CPB Contractors and Leighton Asia, our integrated solutions providers UGL and Sedgman, our development and investment arm Pacific Partnerships, and our in-house engineering consultancy EIC Activities. Opportunities are also available at CIMIC.
As a CIMIC Group graduate, you will receive structured, on-the-job training, guided learning plans and mentoring from our experienced leaders. Over our two-year program, you will experience two 12-month rotations with placements in various roles and projects within CIMIC Group. Having the opportunity to rotate across companies as well as projects provides you with greater opportunities to build your career.
With support for your transition from student to professional from technical experts and mentors, we’ll challenge you with exciting projects and genuine responsibilities. We’ll expand your knowledge with professional development sessions to build your strengths, leadership skills and business acumen. And you’ll be exposed to a variety of projects and companies within CIMIC Group.

How do I apply?
Apply for graduate opportunities directly on the relevant company website: CPB Contractors, UGL, Leighton Asia, Sedgman, Broad Construction, Pacific Partnerships and EIC Activities.
What is the recruitment process?
- Application: Submit your application with one of our operating companies (CPB Contractors, UGL, Sedgman, Pacific Partnerships, or EIC).
- Review: There will be a review period for the relevant operating company to assess your application.
- Selection: Graduates undertake a screening process consisting of either an initial phone or vide interview followed by a face-to-face interview either in person or via Teams. Some roles may also undertake psychometric testing.
- Offer: Should your application be successful, you will receive an offer from our recruitment team.
Will all graduates get to rotate between operating companies?
We endeavour to ensure all graduates gain exposure to multiple areas of the business. This can be through rotations on large projects or across multiple projects, business units and operating companies.
Will graduates be expected to relocate?
Yes. Where possible we expect our graduates to be willing to relocate temporarily to take advantage of opportunities to progress their development and career.
What happens on completion of the graduate program?
Graduates are promoted into an appropriate operational or functional position once they have successfully completed their program.
To assist you in finding a permanent role, the design of the rotations will give you exposure to different areas of CIMIC Group. Your individual development plan, which is established early in the program, will identify skills to develop over the course of the program.
Who is eligible to apply?
Australian or New Zealand citizens or those who have Australian Permanent Residency status at the time of application. (Passport or evidence of permanent residency is be required).
How will my degree be connected to my work?
You will get the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to a practical setting whilst participating in an ongoing learning program. Practical and technical knowledge attained through the program will assist you to operate effectively within CIMIC Group upon completion of the program.
How will I add value to the company?
Through development sessions to build on your strengths, leadership skills and business acumen, you will be able to bring new insights to how we can innovate and improve. You will also gain valuable insights from experienced colleagues while contributing to your working environment.
