Coyote Gold Project

Sedgman undertook the upgrade of the 320,000 t/a gold leaching circuit at the Coyote gold mine located in northern Western Australia. The project was completed in 2008.

The Coyote Gold Mine is a gold mine located in the remote Tanami Desert in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The mine, processing plant and camp were located 17 km west of the Northern Territory border.

SCOPE OF WORKS

The upgrade was to ensure the treatment plant had adequate leach residence time to achieve high gold recovery from the underground ore, which was scheduled to be delivered to the mill in 2008.

The project included design of new leach tanks carbon-in-leach (CIL) / carbon-in-pulp (CIP) new agitators and integration into the existing circuit facilities. Additional leach tank capacity was also installed to improve overall gold extraction.

Sedgman engineered, designed and supplied the following:

• Three new leach tanks
• Tank platforms
• Access stairs
• Handrails
• Kick plates
• Interconnecting launders.

OUTCOMES

We provided engineering services and all electrical and instrumentation requirements from the power supply. Project management of the design process included schedule management, document control and fortnightly reporting of progress.

Sedgman successfully delivered the upgrade to what is recognised as being one of Australia’s most remote mining operations.
