An upgraded road network to support future growth
In 2017 CPB Contractors was awarded a contract by the Victorian Government to deliver the Western Highway Duplication Section 2B, as part of a 50:50 joint venture.
Construction commenced in early 2018 and is on hold while Major Road Projects Victoria (MPRV), works with Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation as the Registered Aboriginal Party, to prepare and seek approval on a new Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP).
The joint venture with Seymour Whyte Constructions on the 12.5km section between Buangor and Ararat will deliver:
- An upgrade to two lanes in each direction, with additional turning lanes;
- A new bridge over the railway line;
- Two new bridges over Hopkins River; and
- An interchange at Hillside Road, with entry and exit ramps.
As the principal road link between Melbourne and Adelaide, the Western Highway serves interstate trade between Victoria and South Australia.
