UGL Transport is delighted to be working with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to design and deliver shoreside charging solutions for Sydney Ferries’ first battery electric ferry (e-ferry).
This charging solution will provide TfNSW with an opportunity to trial their first e-ferry and gather key operational data during the initial pilot.
UGL Transport will design and deliver high-voltage connections to ferry wharves, modify marine structures to accommodate shoreside charging infrastructure, and instal high-powered chargers and associated electrical equipment.
The innovative charging technology deployed by UGL Transport will provide safe, seamless, and autonomous charging, maintaining the safety, efficiency, and reliability of TfNSW’s ferry services.
This will be the first marine charging infrastructure of its kind in Australia and marks the beginning of the transition to e-ferries on Sydney Harbour.
“UGL Transport is proud to work in partnership with Transport for NSW to deliver its objectives to transition to e-ferries on Sydney Harbour,” said Paul Murray, UGL Transport General Manager, Infrastructure & Assets.
“This demonstrates that we are at the forefront of decarbonised transport solutions in Australia. It supports decarbonisation across the marine sector, covering all phases from design and engineering to procurement and long-term maintenance.”
