UGL Transport is delivering critical communications infrastructure for Stage 1 of Queensland’s The Wave project, which will deliver a 19-kilometre dual railway connecting the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games.
As a subcontractor to Alstom, and in partnership with Ericsson and Frequentis, UGL Transport is implementing a digital train radio system integrated into the broader train control environment – a European Train Control System Level 2 (ETCS2) solution – supporting safe, reliable and efficient rail operations across the network.

Under the subcontract arrangement, UGL Transport and partners are delivering digital communications infrastructure, network services, and site connectivity across the corridor.
The Wave – Stage 1 (Rail) is a key component of Queensland’s long-term transport strategy, improving connectivity between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane and supporting population growth in the region. It is jointly funded by the Queensland and Australian governments.
