Norman joined UGL in August 2022, coming on board during the early stages of the Genex project in North Queensland. From pre‑construction through to delivery and handover, he played a key role across foundations and tower assembly.
He then transitioned into his current role as senior project engineer on the Snowy 2.0 Transmission Connection Project in New South Wales, supporting tower assembly and more recently stringing works. With a career spanning major transmission projects across Australia and overseas, Norman is comfortable stepping into almost any stage of the project lifecycle.
What really stands out is his commitment to mentoring. Throughout his career, Norman has supported graduate and junior engineers from different disciplines, helping them build confidence on site and gain a deeper understanding of how projects come together. Several have since progressed into project engineering roles, something Norman is especially proud of.
“Mentoring is about sharing experience,” Norman says. “If you plan well, work as a team and share knowledge, you can deliver even the toughest projects.”
Norman values UGL’s strong systems, safety focus and the support available across the business, noting that the culture makes a real difference on site. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, tackling DIY projects and making the most of the balance that comes with rostered life.
For Norman, it comes down to doing the work well, helping others grow and leaving every project stronger than when he arrived.
