UGL employees unite for Workplace Gender Equality Program

As part of our commitment to foster a more inclusive and equitable workplace, employees participated in a Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) program.

It underscores UGL’s ambition to achieve WGEA citation which recognises employers leading the way in gender equity practices. The program is also part of our broader strategy to meet objectives tied to both the Australian Constructors Association (ACA) Culture Pledge and our Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP). 

“As a leading organisation in the engineering and construction industry, we recognise that gender equality is a strategic advantage,” said UGL National Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Nivani Pillai. “It strengthens team performance, inspires innovation, and reflects our commitment to fairness and inclusivity. It’s a business imperative that builds a foundation for sustainable success, ensuring we remain adaptable, both now and into the future.”

Key objectives of the WGEA program:
1.    Employer commitment to gender equality 
Strengthening UGL’s commitment to applying for the WGEA citation, it demonstrates our dedication to embedding gender equity across all aspects of the business.

2.    Driving results through the ACA Culture Pledge
As a proud signatory of the ACA Culture Pledge, UGL is driving measurable progress in workplace equality. The WGEA program aligns with this pledge. Having a structured pathway towards achieving sustainable results supports our momentum for UGL’s application for WGEA citation.

3.    Progressing the UGL GEAP
UGL is advancing its GEAP goals by equipping employees with the tools, knowledge, and capabilities to effect meaningful change. It reflects our dedication to setting clear objectives and empowering our people to deliver tangible results across diverse business areas.
The program was a success with participants learning a lot.

By taking part in initiatives such as this, we’re making strides toward our vision of a more equitable future. The WGEA program is foundational in driving cultural transformation, allowing UGL to create a workplace where gender equality is not just an aspiration, but a reality.
