In Kosciusko National Park in New South Wales, UGL is progressing well on its Maragle project - the connection point for Snowy Hydro 2.0 to the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Our utilities projects team is delivering a switchyard and accompanying overhead transmission lines for client Lumea, part of Transgrid Group. The project, spanning from Maragle to Lobs Hole, is making strides on both the east and west sides.
As part of Snowy Hydro 2.0, the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia, Maragle switchyard will facilitate the supply of 350,000 MWh of large-scale energy storage to the NEM. This contribution is vital for enhancing the stability and reliability of the NEM, especially during prolonged periods of adverse weather.
On the transmission line:
- All fauna and flora monitoring and easement works are complete.
- The access tracks and pads are nearing completion, with tower foundation works commenced.
- Tower steel is being delivered, ready for the assembly of 43 transmission towers later this year.
In the 330kV switch yard on the western side, works are progressing well with all steel works complete. Stringing and electrical activities are on track as planned and progressing towards energisation in early September.
Plenty happening across both sites. Great work on keeping the momentum going!
