At UGL, community engagement is at the heart of what we do. We’re proud to foster positive connections with the communities where we live and work, ensuring that we contribute meaningfully to their wellbeing. Recently, our team in Western Australia (WA) stepped up to support children and teenagers in foster care by partnering with Care Bags, a local charity making a significant difference.
Care Bags provides essential personal bags to children entering out of home care. Many of these children face traumatic circumstances, often arriving in care with little more than the clothes they are wearing. A care bag filled with essential items sends a strong, uplifting message: You matter, you are valued, and people care.
The WA team rallied together to create 15 bags, each thoughtfully filled with items to help children through their first few days in care. The bags include essentials like toiletries, clothing, and comforting items such as books and toys. These bags will soon be on their way to Broome, Joondalup, Mandurah, and Cannington to support local kids during their most vulnerable moments.
"When we saw the email about the Care Bags drive, our team was immediately on board. As parents and grandparents, we wanted to ensure children in foster care didn’t miss out, packing items we hoped would bring them joy." Katherine Lloyd, UGL Rail and Technology Systems, Western Australia.
At UGL, we believe that communities play a vital role in fostering belonging, offering support, and promoting shared values. Together with organisations like Care Bags, we aim to make a meaningful difference where it matters most.
