UGL’s manufacturing and maintenance team recently had the privilege of participating in the Strive Program – coordinated by Empowering Women in Trades and Apprenticeship Support Australia at Loreto College in Ballarat, Victoria. This event was aimed at Year 10 students and designed to reinforce the opportunities available for women in non-traditional trade roles.
Our team organised an engaging activity where students had the opportunity to personalise key rings and metal bag tags by engraving their names. The students thoroughly enjoyed this hands-on experience, making the event both educational and entertaining.
UGL Ballarat is offering school-based apprenticeships for a group of young women from local schools. Each year, our apprentices and trainees join UGL across various sites in Australia, contributing to our business in trades including electrical, mechanical, and welding.
The Strive Program aligns with UGL’s commitment to building in demand capabilities and addressing the growing need for technical skills over the next decade. By fostering interest and providing opportunities for young women in trades, UGL is dedicated to supporting the development of the next generation of skilled professionals.
