UGL Program Supervisor, Jaye McCallum-Black has demonstrated safety leadership through a number of initiatives. On Stop 4 Safety Day, after the team brainstormed ways to improve safety at UGL, Jaye took it upon himself to turn the ideas into meaningful actions. The actions included: having the right tools for the job, developing a morning routine, reviewing the suitability of the EWP fleet, and procuring trolleys to assist in loading and unloading lights.
In addition, when a gap in training was identified through critical safety risk (CSR) conversations, Jaye arranged training for all his Low Voltage Data Capture team members. At UGL safety underpins everything we do, and Jaye has ensured that members of his team are able to do their jobs and meet the proper safety requirements.
‘Jaye continuously demonstrates all elements of the UGL One HSE Culture. He is an excellent facilitator of monthly toolbox meetings and always involves team members in any decisions related to safety and their role,’ says UGL HSE Operations Manager, Lloyd Smith.
Jaye has been awarded a UGL Very Best Award for Safety for going above and beyond and ensuring employees have a safe work environment.
