Identifying risks to prevent incidents

Critical risk conversations at UGL are important for identifying and addressing risks, and a key part of ensuring we uphold safety expectations.

The Acting Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Lead for our fuels and energy east business, Brendan Thorburn, has supported these conversations by creating a dashboard that shows trending critical risk conversations and improvement opportunities.

The dashboard allows all our people to see what our critical risks are, where we need to improve, and areas to focus on.

“Brendan’s dashboard has helped us to identified focus areas, for example the need to improve chin straps for working at heights. The critical risk conversations dashboard provides a data source enabling us to act on an underlying risk before it becomes an incident,” says ESSO GMC Contract Execution Manager, Michael Truter.

Brendan’s talent has been recognised with a UGL Very Best Award for Innovation. The dashboard is a great tool for showcasing to field teams the importance we place on safety and the action we take to ensure our people are safe.
