CopperString 2032 is driving forward the delivery of 840 km of new high-voltage transmission line in North and North West Queensland. After its recent ground-breaking ceremony at Hughenden, the project continues to build its workforce accommodation facilities and strengthen community partnerships.
Construction has started at Hughenden, for the first and largest workforce accommodation and facilities site, which will house up to 450 people. Additional sites will be developed at key locations including Richmond, Julia Creek, Cloncurry, Pentland, and Charters Towers.
Embracing its environmental responsibilities through the Eastern Alignment Review, Powerlink is actively engaging with community stakeholders during the decision-making process, including on routes for the eastern section of the project.
Engagement with local councils and stakeholders remains a priority for the Copperstring 2032 team, highlighted by recent participation in events like the Hughenden Show and the Green Energy Forum. Upcoming initiatives include Powerlink’s Supplier Capability Development Program and the launch of the CopperString 2032 Experience Centre in Townsville.
Together with CPB Contractors, this joint venture ensures adherence to technical standards while prioritising the needs and values of those most impacted.
