Welcome Baxter Miller and Max Ireland to UGL’s resources team in Western Australia as they embark on their apprenticeships in electrical and fabrication trades. Baxter and Max, both Collie locals are following in the footsteps of our Operations Manager, Rod Keep, who began his own apprenticeship as a boilermaker at the same site, Muja Power Station, in the 1980’s.
Rod joined UGL in 2003 as the operations manager at Muja and Kwinana Power Stations. Throughout his 20 years at UGL, he has worked across several power station, power generation and other resources projects across the country. He has managed all aspects of project delivery, including the planning and execution of running plant maintenance. Rod completed UGL's Diploma of Project Management, supported by a registered training organisation, further solidifying his expertise in the industry.
At UGL, we are committed to supporting new-to-industry recruits and upskilling our current employees through our apprenticeship and traineeship program. With mentors like Rod working with our teams, we are building in demand capabilities across trades including electrical, mechanical, and welding.
