UGL

26 June 2024

Compliance top of the agenda

At UGL, safety underpins everything we do. It’s pleasing that on one of our maintenance outages, delivered at the port of Hay Point, Mackay, Queensland our team achieved a 99% compliance outcome on personnel training and authorisation.

To ensure employees remain safe while at work, permits are required to conduct any high-risk task (such as scaffolding, rigging, dogging) or to operate equipment (such as Franna cranes, forklifts, EWPs). Documentation needs to be submitted, down to the make and model of the equipment they’re using, as well as training.

UGL employees Suzanne Knight, Ashleigh Collins, and Scott Lovison worked methodically in auditing each individual’s compliance requirements and tracking their progress. This is a labour-intensive job and a process had to be formed. During the planning phase, the team worked with the customer, pre-empting challenges, and finding ways to innovate and streamline.

Suzanne, Ashleigh, and Scott have been recognised for their hard work with a Very Best Award for delivery. The customer has also recognised this achievement as a ‘bright spot’.
