UGL’s Hunter Power Project (HPP) and Newcastle team joined forces to attend this year’s Kurri Kurri High School Speed Careering Session, talking to Year 10 students about the various career paths they could explore in the many industries that UGL covers.

Through three hours of nonstop engagement, the UGL teams talked to approximately 150 students divided in groups of 10 who rotated stations from different organisations every 10 minutes or so.

Our colleagues shared their stories on how they ended up working in their current positions and the duties of their roles. The students were surprised to learn that, while trades and university are very popular pathways to get into large companies, the complexity of many projects offer opportunities to very diverse walks of life.

Both the HPP and Newcastle teams were happy to share their knowledge with these future workers, which aligns with our principles of integrity and innovation. The teams recognise that, as an organisation, it is important for us to participate in activities that engage our youth and encourage them to make informed decisions towards their future and their direct positive impact in the local community.
