Our Technical Services team in Jakarta Indonesia was invited by the Department of Mining Engineering to give a lecture at Sriwijaya University in South Sumatera to inspire and support the next generation of mining students.
Thiess Principal Engineer and Sriwijaya University alumnus, Angga Anarsis, delivered a lecture on the ‘Innovation of Mining Methodology and Prospect in the Coal Mining Industry.’
Around 230 people tuned into the lecture both in person and online to learn more from Angga about innovation in the mining industry, Thiess’ approach to sustainability, including our graduate and scholarship programs and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives promoting female participation.
Head of the Mining Engineering department at Sriwijaya University, Edy Ibrahim, said the group was grateful for Thiess’ participation and support.
“We hope universities and practitioners can continue to synergise efforts like this on a regular basis as the need to quality graduates in the mining industry is increasing,” Edy said.
