Sedgman has achieved practical completion of the Queensland Government’s Queensland Resources Common User Facility (QRCUF), located at Cleveland Bay Industrial Park in the Townsville State Development Area.
The milestone marks a significant step forward in the development of Queensland’s critical minerals capability and supports the planned commencement of operations in late 2026.
The achievement was recently acknowledged at a site briefing with the Honourable Dale Last, Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Minister for Manufacturing and Minister for Regional and Rural Development, where an update was provided on the progress of the facility and its role in enabling future minerals processing in North Queensland.
Supporting the next generation of critical minerals development
The Queensland Resources Common User Facility is designed as a multi-user demonstration plant, enabling mining companies to trial and refine mineral processing techniques at scale.
The facility will allow developers to:
- test and optimise processing flowsheets
- produce product samples
- demonstrate project feasibility
- accelerate pathways to commercial production
This capability is expected to support investment in advanced mineral manufacturing, strengthen supply chains and contribute to long-term growth in Queensland’s resources sector.
With an initial focus on vanadium and the flexibility to process a range of critical minerals, the facility has been designed to adapt to future industry needs.
