The Women in Industry Awards recognise outstanding women who work across a range of industrial sectors such as mining, transport, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, bulk handling, waste management, rail and construction and infrastructure – all sectors that are traditionally male-dominated.
Sedgman is pleased to announce that Sonja Landon was a finalist for the 2023 Women in Industry, Excellence in Construction category.
This award recognises an individual who has made a positive contribution to one of the many facets of the construction industry.
Sonja has worked in the engineering and construction industry for 15 years and during this time has supported many engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects in the mining and minerals sector, in both site and office-based capacities.
She has contributed to significant change for women within the industry. Sonja has shown strong leadership and passion for the mentoring and support of women across Sedgman and within the construction industry. Sonja thrives on being a role model and a voice for change.
She places high importance on working smarter, communicating change and focussing on strategy – she has developed templates and systems for earned value reporting that are automated and simple to use so that time is spent reviewing, analysing and understanding results, rather than data entry.
Sonja is a champion for Lean-In Circles, leading new groups and hosting topic specific sessions. These circles provide a space and support circle for women in Sedgman to lift each other up, hold each other accountable, and help the group realise they are not alone in any challenge life throws their way.
At Sedgman, we are working to see more women pursue interesting and satisfying careers in minerals processing and in leadership roles across our company.
Our team was honoured to support Sonja at the Women in Industry Awards in Melbourne last night.
