Part of our Malaysia team, Graduate Engineer Dzedryan Daniel completed three months digital engineering training in the Philippines with our OneDCS team—Leighton Asia's digital delivery capability arm that provides integrated digital construction solutions across the wider CIMIC Group— gaining hands-on experience with advanced tools and workflows that are transforming the construction industry.
Dzedryan shared his thoughts about his training:
Job difference before and after training
"Before the rotation, I worked in the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Department at a data centre project, focusing on snag closure, preparing handover documentation, and managing BMS integration on the client’s live network.
"After the training, I transitioned to another data centre project's Commercial Department, where I support both pre- and post-contract tasks. I’ve applied my Power BI skills to create a high-level tender dashboard, assisted with quantity take-off, and used Minerva and Nexplore to help accounts closure."
Most valuable skills learned
"4D sequencing using ToBe Builder, our in-house planning tool, was the most valuable skill I learned during training. You can’t learn this from anywhere else, and I had the benefit of learning from highly skilled and experienced colleagues. It opened my eyes to the possibilities for future technological advancement in the construction industry."
Current application on the skills
"I have been using Power BI for tender tracking and I'm planning a streamlined dashboard system to connect commercial and planning inputs, to improve visibility and speed up decision-making for fast-paced projects."
Looking ahead
"I aim to advance integration between BIM and commercial workflows by proposing early access to BIM outputs to support quantity checks and tender clarifications."
