Leighton Asia, as a part of the IEC Boardwalk JV, is proud to announce the completion of the western section of the boardwalk underneath the Island Eastern Corridor, enhancing connectivity along Hong Kong Island’s northern shoreline.
A standout feature of this section is the two movable bridges, constructed using high-strength S690 steel. This material was adopted for its durability in marine environments and superior strength, enabling a lighter and more efficient structure. By reducing weight, we minimised material usage for sustainable construction.
The bridges were prefabricated in Mainland China using Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) methods and transported by barge, reducing on-site waste and emissions.
This project showcases engineering excellence while supporting environmental responsibility. We are excited to deliver resilient and eco-friendly infrastructure for the city. Stay tuned for more updates!
