The Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS), Sydney Chapter, has selected Dr Jeff Hsi, Technical Adviser – Ground Engineering, EIC Activities, as the recipient of the 2024 Harry Poulos Award.
This award recognises Dr Hsi's exceptional contributions to geotechnical engineering, particularly his innovative work and leadership in soil-structure interaction.
The award is a testament to Dr Hsi's dedication to AGS and the remarkable impact of his work in the field of geotechnical engineering.
In line with tradition, Dr Jeff Hsi will deliver a keynote presentation to AGS member on "Design Optimisation and Risk Management through Soil-Structure Interaction Analysis”, allowing the community to benefit from his insights and expertise.
The award and presentation will be held on 9 April 2025.

About Dr Jeff Hsi
Dr Jeff Hsi has over 40 years of experience in ground engineering and is currently in the role of Technical Adviser - Ground Engineering at EIC Activities.
Over the past 10 years, Dr Hsi has been an important part of our leadership team, firstly as General Manager and more recently as Technical Director.
He has contributed to major infrastructure projects in over 20 countries and has published over 80 technical papers in journals and conferences.
He served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology Sydney and delivered a keynote on Soft Ground Engineering in Practice at the 2016 AGS Symposium.
