In the wake of Cyclone Narelle, the CPB Contractors team in Western Australia mobilised to support local recovery efforts in Exmouth, Western Australia, working closely with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and the Shire of Exmouth to assist the community as it begins to rebuild.
The communities in which we work are central to what we do. When natural disasters impact these regions, we see firsthand the challenges faced by local residents, businesses and frontline crews. It reinforces the importance of showing up and providing practical support where it is needed most.
Following the cyclone, local crews had been working tirelessly and were in need of additional support to continue restoration works ahead of the town reopening. CPB mobilised to assist, contributing plant, equipment and personnel to help progress critical clean-up and repair activities.
Works have focused on verge clean-ups, removing general and green waste, and undertaking scour repairs to road edges and drainage to restore safe access across key areas. Crews have also supported broader town precinct clean-up efforts, traffic management and road sweeping, helping to improve conditions for the local community as recovery continues.
Access to local facilities, including the refuge centre and Shire depot, has enabled crews to operate efficiently and integrate seamlessly with ongoing recovery efforts being led on the ground.
While modest in scale, these efforts play an important role in supporting the community during a critical time. It is a reminder that small, practical actions can make a meaningful difference in helping communities recover and move forward.
Whether through major project delivery or targeted recovery efforts such as this, our focus remains on working alongside communities to deliver outcomes that have a lasting, positive impact.
