Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day.
Our industry has had one of the highest rates of suicide according to research, with more than 200 workers lost each year, which is why Australia’s R U OK? Day is an important day on our calendar.
As one of the largest employers in construction, CPB Contractors is committed to removing the stigmas associated with mental health.
Research released this month shows that by checking in on a mate, you’re boosting their sense of wellbeing. Nine out of 10 Australians say they feel grateful, supported and cared for when someone has genuinely asked them if they're OK.
It’s also one of the biggest days of the year for our partners at social impact PPE workwear brand, TradeMutt and Australia’s leading mental health support service for tradies, TIACS. Both organisations are working to drive social and cultural change within our industry and for blue collar workers generally.
TradeMutt founder Dan Allen and TIACS counsellor Kurt Everard, have both dedicated their careers to improving people’s attitude towards mental health.
“There's real power in conversation. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people reach out to TIACS, have one session, and then say, I feel like I've had a weight lifted off my shoulders” says TIACS counsellor Kurt Everard.
“Don't hold it all in and don't do it on your own. Have a conversation or text or call TIACS and let’s talk about what’s going on for you.”
