CPB Contractors' joint venture delivery of Transport for NSW's M12 Motorway West project has successfully delivered a critical road reconfiguration of Elizabeth Drive in Western Sydney. The 56-hour shutdown, which included the intersection of Elizabeth Drive and Badgerys Creek Road, marked a major step in preparing Western Sydney’s transport infrastructure for the opening of the new airport.
The reconfiguration included removing the M12 West roundabout on Elizabeth Drive, kerb installation, barrier works, sign gantries, street lighting, ITS cabling, shared path works, landscaping and the commissioning of the new intersection. More than 11km of new line marking was sprayed, replacing around 7km of redundant markings.
CPB Contractors Area Manager Gavin Wilson who led the planning and delivery of the shutdown acknowledged the enormous team effort behind the success of the operation.
“This was an outstanding demonstration of teamwork and commitment. Our project team, subcontractors and support teams worked through the weekend to ensure the program was delivered safely and on time” adds Gavin.
More than 50 personnel delivered the work across both day and night shifts, contributing over 1,625 work hours through completion of the reconfiguration.
With the reconfiguration now complete, final works are underway to remove temporary barriers, pave wearing course asphalt, and install permanent line marking. The Elizabeth Drive and Badgerys Creek road intersection is already operating in its final arrangement.
CPB Contractors is delivering the M12 Motorway West package in a joint venture with Georgiou. The delivery of this project includes the construction of a 6km dual carriageway motorway between The Northern Road, Luddenham, and 400 metres east of Badgerys Creek, along with the construction of 11 bridges and a grade-separated interchange connected with the Western Sydney International Airport
