Fashioning PPE into sustainable outcomes

At the Warringah Freeway Upgrade in NSW, sustainability isn’t just a target - it’s a team effort. This spring, our CPB Contractors and DT Infrastructure project team came together for a Big Spring Clean, collecting more than 200 items of PPE weighing over 80 kilograms from across our site offices.

The collection included shirts, vests, jackets, pants, hard hats, boots, gloves and glasses - all sent to UPPAREL for recycling and reuse. By giving workwear a second life, the team helped divert valuable materials from landfill and supported a growing circular economy.

“Sustainability isn’t just something we talk about - it’s something we build into everything we do,” said Project Director Steven Clarke.

“The Big Spring Clean shows how small actions can create lasting impact. By recycling and reusing more than 200 PPE items, our team has turned everyday materials into something meaningful - embedding environmental responsibility into every aspect of construction and ensuring our work leaves an impact that lasts well beyond project delivery."
