CPB Contractors is making significant progress on its delivery of Perth’s METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link project, with ongoing steel installation at Thornlie Station.
Recently, the project team utilised a 95-tonne crane to successfully position steel panels and roofing elements across the site. Over three days, 31 individual panels were precision lifted and installed, forming a new overpass concourse bridge at the station.
In addition to the steel panels, the project team is also currently placing 154 individual steel roofing sheets, each weighing up to 31 kilograms and measuring up to 12 meters in length.
Once complete, the Thornlie Station overpass bridge will connect passengers to the station entry building and the station's platforms.
CPB Contractors, as part of the NEWest Alliance, is delivering the Yanchep Rail Extension and the Thornlie-Cockburn Link, including the construction of two new stations to provide Perth’s first cross line connection and improve public transport services to the city’s southern suburbs. The Yanchep Rail Extension extends the Joondalup line north from Butler to Yanchep and involves the construction of three new stations to support the area’s growing population.
