In a major milestone, CPB Contractors has connected the new Elizabeth Drive road alignment with Western Sydney International Airport as part of its joint venture delivery of Transport for NSW’s M12 West Motorway project.
With all girders needed to complete bridges on the new Elizabeth Drive road alignment now installed, CPB Contractors Project Director Nick Fryday shares that this new connection is tipped to enhance productivity for the raft of projects being delivered concurrently in the area.
More than 60 pre-cast girders weighing approximately 60 tons each were used to construct the bridges, and installed using a 700-tonne mobile crane and a 600-tonne crawler crane.
“This milestone has been the result of meticulous planning and a stand-out team,” says Nick.
CPB Contractors is delivering the M12 Motorway West package in a joint venture. The delivery of this project includes the construction of a 6km dual carriageway motorway between The Northern Road, Luddenham, and 400 metres east of Badgerys Creek, along with the construction of 11 bridges and a grade-separated interchange connected with the Western Sydney International Airport.
