Cultural Awareness Training leaves a lasting impact

CPB Contractors’ M6 Stage 1 Project, with the support of our client Transport for NSW, has teamed up with Indigenous trainer Bradlee Commins from BC Consulting to provide training to the project delivery and support team over a number of workshops.

Each session promoted a better understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, focusing on its traditions while also exploring how to apply cultural sensitivity and respect to the experiences of First Peoples.

Terry Stroud, CPB Contractors Commercial Director on the M6 Stage 1 Project, said

“it was very informative and thought-provoking… I now have a better understanding of Aboriginal customs and history”.

Cultural Awareness Training is one of many initiatives that CPB Contractors embraces as part of our commitment to Aboriginal participation and inclusion.

Katherine Dunn, Workforce Development Lead for the M6 Stage 1 project said: “Cultural awareness means being aware of and sensitive to cultural differences. It involves knowledge, attitudes and values that demonstrate openness and respect for other people. By learning about Australia’s First People, we get the opportunity to develop, collaborate and innovate together.”
