CPB Contractors is committed to taking its role in the community much further than infrastructure construction. With a focus on how these infrastructure projects can positively add value to the cities, centres, and communities they serve, connect and grow, our Monash Freeway Upgrade Stage 2 (MFU2) team has partnered with Backpacks 4 VIC Kids (B4VK). An essential service within the community, B4VK provides programs for displaced children who often require foster care or emergency placement. An important function of the charity is to supply backpacks filled with essential items for these children, to allow them and their carers to focus on settling into their new environment. The packs include basic toiletries, clothing, pyjamas, a torch, and comfort items such as soft toys, blankets, and games. B4VK supplies these packs to social workers, Victoria Police, and the Department of Health & Human Services to be distributed to children in crisis.
Our MFU2 project has donated and refurbished multiple shipping containers to house 'My Essential Packs', thus allowing police officers and social workers to have round the clock access to resources for children transiting into foster care and emergency housing. Contactless and available 24-hours a day, this partnership has enabled us to play a role in helping make a difference in the lives of children in need. The partnership means more children and carers can be assisted regardless of the time of day and other factors such as COVID-19 restrictions and will make a difference in the lives of our community's most vulnerable members.
