Looking back on a year of progress towards reconciliation
The CPB Contractors Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) guides our company’s approach to national reconciliation.
“We launched our RAP 12 months ago and established a Working Group with representatives from across the company,” said Sharon Gray, Group Manager for Diversity and Social Inclusion.
“With the support of this team, our business units and projects are working together to increase their knowledge on First Nations issues and adopting culturally appropriate processes to better support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.”
Each member of the Working Group is empowered to bring their unique background, skills, and experience to our shared vision of reconciliation and play a key role in our RAP’s delivery.
In addition to increasing cultural awareness, new processes have been implemented to increase Indigenous employment and procurement, supporting our targets of 4% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and 2% spend with Indigenous businesses.
Managing Director Diego Zumaquero said: “As a major Australian employer and contributor to the economy, we have the opportunity to create mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities.”
Every target we committed to in the RAP aims to deliver long-term and reciprocal partnerships that create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples through training, employment and other business activities.
