Our team and VicRoads working to better connect the region
CPB Contractors has been selected by the Victorian Government to deliver the Western Highway Duplication Section 2B, as part of a 50:50 joint venture.
The design and construct contract will generate revenue of approximately $42 million for CPB Contractors.
Construction is expected to commence in March 2018 and conclude in approximately mid-2020.
Our priority is the safe and efficient management of all live road networks during construction, and ensuring mimimal disruption to local communites.
CPB Contractors Managing Director Juan Santamaria said: “Delivering new and upgraded transport infrastructure within operational road environments is a core capability for CPB Contractors, and our priority is the safe and efficient management of these live networks during construction.
“We are pleased to contribute our cost-effective design and construction solutions to develop and deliver VicRoads’ planned public transport and community benefits, including maximising participation opportunities for Victorian workers and businesses.”
The joint venture, with Seymour Whyte Constructions, will undertake works on the 12.5km section between Buangor and Ararat to deliver an upgrade to two lanes in each direction, with additional turning lanes; a new bridge over the railway line; two new bridges over Hopkins River; and an interchange at Hillside Road, with entry and exit ramps.
As the principal road link between Melbourne and Adelaide, the Western Highway serves interstate trade between Victoria and South Australia.
With traffic expected to increase in the future, the Australian and Victorian governments have committed over half a billion dollars to upgrade the Western Highway through various stages of works expected to be completed by 2020.
