Engaging a local workforce in Port Moresby, PNG, CPB Contractors successfully delivered the landmark development, APEC Haus, a world-leading conference facility used to host the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Summit in November 2018.

Constructed in under 12 months by a diverse workforce consisting of 80% PNG Nationals, the impressive APEC Haus was built to the highest standards on reclaimed land with a complex design.

The fast-track delivery timeframe required a committed and experienced team, ready to start on contract award and deliver on time while meeting all quality, safety, environmental, community and stakeholder expectations.

To ensure that the building was completed on time, CPB Contractors successfully managed accelerated pre-construction works including piling using a 50 tonne Soilmec SF-65 CFA rotary rig, procured and shipped from Brisbane, Australia.

The architecture of the iconic building promotes the Hiri Moale Festival traditions and cultures and was designed so that, post-APEC, the building could be easily repurposed to accommodate a museum, exhibition and conference centre.
