A beautiful fit-out at a significant heritage site

Broad was successful in the tender to fit-out Levels 19 to 31 of the David Malcolm Justice Centre (Treasury Building) as part of the $700 million works for Cathedral and Treasury Precinct development.

The building is located at 28 Barrack Street in Perth’s central business district. The project comprised the fit-out of approximately 13,500sqm of office space to accommodate agencies of the Western Australian Government, Department of the Attorney General and the Department of Treasury.

The result is a world-class turnkey office fit-out, befitting the honour of the late former chief justice, David Malcolm.

The works were carried out simultaneously with Broad’s fit-out of Levels 2 to 16 for the Supreme Courts (Civil) of Western Australia. Work began on site in October 2015 and completed on time.

Having secured the lower level fit-out works, we were able to expand the existing Supreme Courts project delivery team with added supervision, commercial and administration personnel to accommodate the additional fit-out (Levels 19 to 31) works.

The existing logistics plans and ongoing procurement process for the lower floors enabled a ‘whole tower’ approach to be undertaken for both fit-out projects. This method proved an extremely efficient logistics solution.

Scope of work:

  • Demolition of existing facilities.
  • Structural work and all joinery and cabinet work.
  • The installation of operable wall systems, electrical services, mechanical services and hydraulic services.
  • The installation of audio-visual equipment, ceilings and flooring materials, and coordination of all visual graphical elements of the fit-out.
