UGL recently joined client, ConocoPhillips, and their other major suppliers in an Indigenous participation workshop in Gladstone.
The purpose of the forum was to understand how we could all do more to support Aboriginal employment and increase Indigenous business opportunities in the Gladstone region, particularly for the Traditional Owner communities.
It was a collaborative environment where we all shared successes, challenges, enablers and derailers as businesses in Aboriginal engagement.
Aboriginal businesses and representatives from the Port Curtis Coral Coast Trust (PCCC) participated in the workshop and provided valuable first-hand insight on how we can improve outcomes for local First Nations people.
As a result, the organisations present committed to establishing an ongoing working group to further develop the opportunities identified during the workshop, which includes working closely with the newly formed First Nations Chamber of Commerce in Gladstone to build and grow sustainable Aboriginal businesses in the region.
