The CPB Contractors team has officially begun tunnelling works as part of the Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport, Station Boxes and Tunnelling Works.
Two 1,066-tonne tunnel boring machines (TBMs) are excavating the 5.5-kilometre twin metro tunnels from the Airport Business Park Station site and will journey to the Aerotropolis Station site. Each week, the TBMs will carve an average of 120 metres which will pave the way for the construction of six new Sydney Metro stations from St Marys to the Aerotropolis precinct.
CPB Contractors is committed to bringing local employment and training opportunities to the Western Sydney region as they deliver Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport, Station Boxes and Tunnelling Works. More than 14,000 project-based jobs will be made available throughout construction, including opportunities for 250 new apprentices.
