Congratulations to the Queensland winners
Congratulations to everyone whose work was recognised in the Queensland Major Contractors Association’s Innovation and Excellence Awards.
CPB Contractors’ staff won three major awards:
Project of the Year over $100m+ was awarded to Brisbane Airport’s New Parallel Runway– Skyway Joint Venture, BMD Group and CPB Contractors
The judges were impressed with every aspect of the project, from the collaborative nature of the project charter to the use of technology to ensure success. Working in a live airport environment, the team had to manage challenging environmental conditions, remove 5,000,000m3 of excess sand, and then deliver 3.3km of runway, 12 km of taxiways and 21km of air side roads, plus aprons, lighting and landscaping. The judges noted that this could not have been achieved without meticulous attention to detail by the project team.
Sustainability was awarded to CPB Contractors for the Logan Enhancement Project
The judges noted that CPB Contractors had demonstrated a range of sustainability outcomes on the Logan Enhancement Project including the use of a new form of sustainable asphalt that delivered reduced cost, with a longer lifetime, that provided a new benchmark for the industry. In addition, the project received Queensland’s first Leading rating under the ISCA sustainability rating tool.
Emerging Professional of the Year was awarded to Jessica Manteit
Jessica Manteit is a Project Engineer with CPB Contractors, currently working on the Cross River Rail. The judges said she had demonstrated considerable leadership in managing projects, has the makings of a strong leader and is a genuine role model for aspiring professionals in the construction industry. The judges were particularly impressed with Jessica’s authenticity and her commitment to the community. She perfectly fit the judges’ expectations of what an emerging professional should be: smart, capable, practical, solutions-driven, accessible, empathetic and promising.
