PNG Undergraduate Engineer Priscilla Tangu recently had the opportunity to lead a training day for the CareerTrackers program in PNG after its Australian-based facilitator could not travel due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
CPB Contractors’ site management hosted the Lae-based engineering students for the CareerTrackers ‘Program Day’, which gives students the opportunity to build their CareerTrackers community with interns living and working in the same city.
The CareerTrackers program creates pathways and support systems for Indigenous young adults to graduate from university with industry experience.
Area Manager Garren Reddy said Priscilla was an ideal role model for the engineering students,
“She has seen the program in action, first-hand, and was able to share her own story which gave the students clarity on professional and academic success and priorities,” he said.
The event covered topics such as work readiness, professional business writing, CareerTrackers’ internship processes and typical internship scenarios.
CPB Contractors in PNG currently employs three CareerTrackers engineering interns.
