CPB Contractors has been selected by the Australian Department of Defence to deliver upgrades to RAAF Base Pearce to support the introduction of the new Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft into service.
Located about 35 kilometres north of Perth, RAAF Base Pearce will be an important Forward Operating Base for the P-8A Poseidon as it conducts maritime operations over the Indian and Southern Oceans.
The upgrade works includes the extension of runways, strengthening of taxiways and pavements and the provision of a new aircraft rinse facility.
CPB Contractors’ Managing Director Juan Santamaria said: “I’m very proud that our team has been selected by Defence to deliver the essential upgrades at RAAF Base Pearce to support the Poseidon P-8A. We have great experience in delivering successful projects, like the C17 Project at Amberley, and we’ll ensure that all project objectives are achieved.”
General Manager Defence Brendan Sowry said: “Defence projects have strict security requirements and need to be delivered in active operational environments. We’ll work closely with the Department of Defence to deliver this project in accordance with all safety and security requirements.”
Construction will commence this year with works scheduled for completion in early 2021.
