Supporting the prison’s increased services and capacity

CPB Contractors has been selected by Corrective Services NSW to deliver infrastructure upgrades at the Junee Correctional Centre.

The design and construct contract will generate revenue to CPB Contractors of approximately $134 million.

CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Adolfo Valderas said: “Australia’s strong infrastructure pipeline continues to present CIMIC Group with opportunities to utilise its diverse capabilities and major project experience.

“Our strong track record of correctional facilities work is built on a demonstrated history of completing challenging building and engineering upgrades in live, fully-operational environments, without disrupting critical activities and services.”

CPB Contractors Managing Director Román Garrido said: “We will continue to work with Corrective Services NSW and Justice Infrastructure to achieve innovative and cost-effective solutions for this project.

“Developing increased job and work opportunities for local workers and businesses is a priority for our team as the project progresses.”

As managing contractor, CPB Contractors will expand the existing prison to create a total of 480 new beds, incorporating new maximum security and administration buildings; demolish or relocate existing buildings; and refurbish existing infrastructure to support the prison’s increased capacity.

Construction is scheduled to commence in mid-2017 and conclude in 2019.

Situated on 106 hectares of land on the outskirts of the town of Junee in the Riverina region of NSW, the Junee Correctional Centre is a minimum to medium security correctional centre for men. It is located 40km from Wagga Wagga and 450km west of Sydney.
