UGL was awarded the contract to design, procure and construct the 2.3MW Mt Majura Solar Farm facility including the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the site for two years.

A single axis tracking system was required, and related infrastructure needed to be connected to the adjacent 11kV overhead line operated by ACTewAGL as part of their distribution network for the ACT.

UGL’s scope of works included:

  • project management
  • design management
  • design services
  • construction management
  • health and safety management
  • environmental management

The Mt Majura Solar Farm started as a solar installation funded by 22 individual stakeholders. These stakeholders ranged from small companies and nursing homes to superannuation investment companies taking advantage of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) government tariffs for electricity generation. The farm is now owned by Impact Investment Group’s Solar Income Fund.
