CPB Contractors and its Causeway Alliance partners were contracted by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) to deliver the NZ$220 million Causeway Upgrade project on State Highway 16 (SH16) (Northwestern Motorway) in Auckland.

The Causeway Alliance is a consortium consisting of NZTA with CPB Contractors, Fulton Hogan, Aecom, Sinclair Knight Merz and Coffey Geotechnics.

The project completes a key section of Auckland’s Western Ring Route, significantly improving connectivity between Auckland’s west and central city for commuters and freight transport.

The Alliance raised and widened the causeway between Great North Road at Waterview and the Te Atatu Interchange. Works addressed existing flooding issues, introduced dedicated bus shoulders and upgraded the Northwestern Cycleway and pedestrian facilities along the route.

The Causeway Alliance team integrated roads, bridges, environmental and community engagement specialists to successfully deliver the project.

CPB Contractors is currently delivering the following projects in New Zealand:

  • Waikeria Corrections and Treatment Facility PPP - enabling works
  • NZ Schools PPP
  • Transmission Gully PPP
  • Christchurch Hospital
  • Christchurch Convention Centre
  • Southern Corridor Improvements
  • Bay Link
