Roman Garrido

Roman Garrido R Garrido Managing Director, CPB Contractors

Román is Managing Director of CPB Contractors incorporating Leighton Asia.

Román has more than 24 years’ experience in engineering and construction, and a highly-regarded and successful history of strategic management, executive leadership and the development of new markets and opportunities.

Román has significant international experience in the construction of major highway, bridge, tunnel, transit and building projects, as well as the design and construction of highway and bridge projects for public-private partnership (PPP) ventures.

Before joining CPB Contractors, Román was Deputy Managing Director of John Holland (JHG), where his responsibilities included the development of a new strategic approach that in December 2014 assisted in the execution of a binding Share Sale Agreement with CCCC International Holding Limited (CCCI), under which CCCI acquired the business and assets of JHG.

Prior to this appointment, Román was Dragados, S.A.’s Managing Director of Australia and Dragados’ Managing Director of the United States and Canada.

Román has a Masters in Civil Engineering Education from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is a member of the National Society of Civil Engineers (Spain).

Michael Wright

Michael Wright M Wright CIMIC Group Executive Mining and Mineral Processing and Managing Director, Thiess BEng MEng

Michael Wright was appointed Group Executive Mining and Mineral processing in December 2016, and is responsible for leading CIMIC’s operating companies, Thiess and Sedgman.

Since joining the CIMIC Group in 1998, Michael has held a number of executive roles, including leading Thiess’ Australian Mining operations, managing the Thiess Services business, running Leighton Asia’s China and Mongolia business, and various senior leadership roles across Thiess.

Michael’s extensive experience spans more than 25 years in mining, engineering, tunnelling, environment, waste management, telecommunications and utilities.  These, in combination with his significant project management experience and leadership capability, provide a strong platform to lead CIMIC’s mining and mineral processing operations.

As a long-standing advocate for the mining industry, Michael is passionate about industry development, sustainability, diversity and inclusion.  He is a board member of the Minerals Council of Australia, Queensland Resources Council and the Sustainable Minerals Institute, which is affiliated with the University of Queensland.  In 2015, Michael became a member of the Queensland Male Champions of Change, and is committed to diversity and inclusion.

Michael Carretta

M Carretta Managing Director, Sedgman BE(Min Proc)(Hons), MAusIMM, GAICD

Michael joined Sedgman in 1998 and was appointed as Managing Director in December 2016, having held the role in an acting capacity since June 2016. Michael has held senior management and technical roles within Sedgman, most recently as Director Engineering and Project Delivery with accountability across all Sedgman’s operating regions. Michael was previously Sedgman’s Global Director Operations, where he was responsible for global contract operations, including coal and metals plant operations, international operations expansion and diversification into new market sectors.

Michael has more than 20 years’ of experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining Sedgman he held various engineering and management roles with BHP Billiton.

Juan Santamaria

J Santamaria Managing Director, UGL

Juan is Managing Director of UGL.

Juan was formerly Executive General Manager Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Construction West at CPB Contractors with responsibility across the Group’s construction operations in Western Australia and the Northern Territory and for CPB Contractors’ subsidiary Broad, as well as CPB Contractors’ PPP projects.

Juan has more than 15 years’ international experience in the delivery of large and complex construction projects in Europe, North America, Latin America and South Africa.

Juan has a Masters in Civil Engineering Education from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is a member of the National Society of Civil Engineers (Spain).

Glen Mace

G Mace Managing Director, EIC Activities

Glen Mace is the EIC Activities Managing Director.

Glen previously held roles with CPB Contractors including General Manager Rail and General Manager Eastern Infrastructure.

He has more than 25 years of rail and civil engineering experience and has established and managed successful teams within alliance, partnering and D&C contracts on civil, rail and multidisciplinary projects, internationally.

Mike Metcalfe

Mike Metcalfe M Metcalfe CEO, Ventia

Mike Metcalfe is a highly experienced and respected industry leader responsible for leading Ventia’s combined telecommunications, infrastructure and utilities services business.  He brings to this leadership role more than 26 years of experience in senior executive management positions across infrastructure, telecommunications, services, buildings, and oil and gas. 

Prior to Ventia, Mike was the Deputy Managing Director of Leighton Contractors and Executive General Manager of Leighton Contractors Services. 

With a reputation for delivering diversified and profitable market strategies in support of sustainable business outcomes, Mike is aiming to make Ventia the best telecommunications, infrastructure and utilities services business in Australasia.

Moustafa Fahour

M Fahour CEO and Managing Director, HLG Contracting

Moustafa Fahour OAM is the CEO & MD of HLG Contracting LLC. He was previously Executive General Manager, Finance for CIMIC Group and prior to that he was the Group Chief Financial Officer for HLG Contracting.

Moustafa has over 15 years of experience in the banking industry, construction, management and has been with the CIMIC Group since 2012. Prior to this Moustafa held senior roles with Macquarie Bank, National Australia Bank, UBS and Citigroup.

Moustafa was recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) by the Australian Government in 2015 and was selected as one of The World’s Most Influential Young Arabs under the age of 40, by Arabian Business that same year.
